Intermediate Football Championship     Corofin 2-11   Kilfenora 0-7

August 11th, 2013

Corofin secured their place in the semi-finals of the Intermediate Football Championship following a comprehensive 10 point victory over near neighbours Kilfenora in a one-sided game played in Miltown Malbay on Sunday August 11th. This was Corofin's first game in the championship having
received a bye in the first game following the withdrawl from the competition of O'Callaghans Mills. Kilfenora had lost to Kilmihil in their opening game.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half, Corofin led at half-time by 1-8 to 0-3, with Damien Ryan scoring a goal from a penalty.
Among the point scorers for Corofin in the first half were Gearóid Kelly, Jamie Malone, Jack Campbell and Damien Ryan. Corofin should have been much further ahead at half-time but for numerous goal chances coming back off the post and cross-bar.

A goal early in the second half from Gearóid Kelly put the game out of reach of Kilfenora, and Corofin closed out the game with three pointed frees from Damien Ryan to emerge victorious on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 0-7. Corofin now take on Kilmihil later in the month to decide who finishes top of the group.
